Obituary

Edward C. Reutter, age 68, of Edgemont, SD, passed away June 29, 2012, at Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs, SD.

Ed Reutter was born March 24, 1944, to Carl and Evelyn Reutter. The family moved to the ranch in 1950. Ed grew up in "God's country" with his folks and big sister Beverly. When Ed was 20 years old, he met the love of his life, Wanda Moldenhauer. They were married in Edgemont on October 31, 1964. Together they raised three children, Theresa, Monica, and Ben. He worked various jobs, including working at the Black Hills Army Depot, driving the school bus on the Dewey route, working on the Pfister ranch and at the Chevy garage before he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for nearly 20 years. After Ben was born, the family moved to the Bell ranch in Red Canyon. Due to Ed's hard work ethic and love of ranching, they purchased the Edgemont Livestock Market and expanded their ranch out west while he was still working for the railroad. After a few years, Ed's dream of ranching full time was fulfilled.

Family and friends were always the most important part of Ed's life. He enjoyed roping, going to the Black Hills Stock Show, hunting, the NFR, branding, moving cattle with his special blue heeler friend "Tizzy" and he especially loved his kids and grandkids.

Ed was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. We will be forever grateful for the time we had with him. He will be missed.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda of Edgemont; son, Ben (Becky) Reutter of Edgemont; daughters, Monica (Scott) Hargens of Rapid City, SD; Theresa (Dwight) Lackey ; nine grandchildren; sister, Beverly McBride of Edgemont; step-mother, Louise Reutter of OR; step-brothers; George (Jan) Calvert of OR; John (Linda) Calvert of OR; step-sister, Nancy Dziekan of OR; mother-in-law, Alvina Moldenhauer of IL; brother-in-law, Bruce (Judy) Moldenhauer of IL; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Tizzy.
