Elda M. Carlson, age 84, formerly of Browning, MT, passed away on Oct 17, 2016, at the Custer Regional Senior Care Center.

Elda was born on August 26, 1932, in Browning, MT, to Oscar and Mary Anne (Ell) Germundson. She married Duane Carlson at Coeur d'Alene, ID, on September 19, 1954. They farmed for a time before moving to WY. Elda raised their children as a wonderful mother as well as like a mother to others. She worked as a caretaker in nursing homes, a cook at restaurants, and with her husband in his trucking and logging business. Elda was a very hard worker as well as a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing; loved fossil hunting, family and friends gatherings.

Elda is preceded in death by her husband, Duane Carlson; daughter, Carrie Hoff; two sons, George Carlson, Chester(Sonnie) Carlson; step son, Richard Carlson; her parents, Oscar and Mary Ann Germundson; mother and father in law, Hazel and Chester Carlson; two brothers, Oscar and Gerald Germundson.

She is survived by Zena (Loren) Hieb of Custer, SD; Jerald Carlson of Newcastle, WY; Kim (Lloyd) Thomas of Redding, CA; Vickie Solmanson of Newcastle, WY; Ricky (Sequina) Hoff of Anchorage, AK; step children, Marilyn (Russ) Bushaw Federal Way, WA; Ivan Hoff of Seattle, WA; Mike (Jan) Carlson of Colony, WY; Gary (Cheri) Carlson of Hitchcock, SD; Dianne (Richard) Corey of Sioux Falls, SD; 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Burial services will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2016, at the Black Hills National Cemetery with Fr. Andrzej Wyrostek as celebrant.
