Obituary

Eleanor Laura Eibert, age 77, passed away July 27, 2008 at Hospice House in Rapid City, SD. Pine Hills was her home in Hot Springs, SD for the past two years.

Eleanor was born August 24, 1930 and spent her first 19 years in San Diego, CA. She graduated from Point Loma High School in 1948.

Eleanor married Murray E. Rover on January 6, 1951. They lived in the northern Illinois area for 42 years. Her husband passed away in 1991, and she returned to San Diego. Some of the activities Eleanor was involved in were – Camp Fire Girls leader while caring for her family of six children, three boys and three girls. She was also a Foster Care mother, and was employed by "Little City" a home for mentally handicapped children. Eleanor was also employed as an executive secretary.

In May of 1996 Eleanor married Don Eibert, a retired Naval Officer. They met at a Lutheran church potluck supper. They were volunteers for the Forest Service on the Cleveland National Forest in California. They were members of the Coronado Optimist Club and involved in many other civic activities. Since moving to Hot Springs in 1997, they traveled extensively. They enjoyed Alaska, Hawaii, Ireland and England. One of their goals was to travel to all 50 states.

Since retiring to Hot Springs in 1997, she has volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program, and the local Kiwanis Club activities. She was an active member of the United Churches. Eleanor was a beautiful lady of style and grace. Her sense of humor and wonderful smile was her trademark. Her smile, positive influence and attitude will be missed. She leaves a big hole in our world, but heaven will be a bit brighter because of her spirit.

She is survived by her husband, Don and her three sons living in California; David, Mark and Matthew; three daughters living in Illinois, Gail Anne; Donna and Joan; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 1, 2008 at the United Churches in Hot Springs with Reverend Morris Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Hot Springs.

The Eibert family wishes to thank all of Eleanor's special friends for all their love, support and assistance. We especially want to thank the citizens of Hot Springs for all of the cards and wishes. We thank Hospice House staff and Hospice volunteers for their care and Kindness.
