Eleanor Gladys Jensen, age 89, of Hot Springs, SD, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. She moved to Hot Springs after the death of her husband to be closer to her son for help with her Alzheimer's.
Eleanor was born on August 24, 1919 in Chicago, IL to John and Marie Hoffman. She had one brother, William who preceded her in death. The family moved from Chicago to South Haven, MI where she attended school. She later for Everett Piano Company as a first aid employee. There she met and married Irving E. Jensen, they were married to each other until his death in May of 1999.
She was well known as a nurse for Dr. Morris Duckborough and Dr. John Kleber. She and her husband were long time members of St. Paul's Evangelical Church of South Haven.
She is survived by her children, a daughter, Nancy Wells of Nassau, Bahamas and a son, Ed Jensen of Hot Springs; daughter-in-law, Kathy Jensen and son-in-law Clifton Wells. She has five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Irving and infant daughter Carol Ann.
A memorial service will be planned for her at a later date to be held in South Haven, MI.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs and Fildrandt Family Funeral Home in South Hampton, MI.
