Eleanor Marie Romick, 84, of Martin, SD, died Monday, May 28, 2007 at the Bennett County Hospital in Martin, SD.

Eleanor Marie Romick was born October 11, 1922 in Hot Springs, SD to Arthur Earle Stanton and Zella Isabelle (Foster) Stanton. She was the youngest of eight children. Eleanor grew up in the Black Hills and could remember watching the carving of Mount Rushmore as a young girl.

On January 8, 1940 Eleanor married Ivan Linton in Hot Springs, SD; to this union her three children Vonda, Gene, and Ivy were born.
On June 19, 1971 Eleanor married Carl Romick in Oral, SD. Eleanor and Carl made their home together in Alliance, Nebraska for 33 years. Eleanor worked for Woolrich as a professional seamstress and retired after 15 years. After the death of her husband Carl in 2005, Eleanor made her home in Martin, SD.

She is survived by her daughter, Ivy Birdsall and son-in-law Jack Birdsall of Martin, SD, son-in-law, Tom Rothleutner of Upton, WY; daughter-in-law, Barbara Linton of Minneapolis, MN; step children and their spouses, Stanley Romick of Gering, NE; Ronald and Donna Romick and Kathy and Richard Meir of Alliance, NE; thirteen grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl; daughter, Vonda Rothleutner, and son, Gene Linton, her parents, brothers, sisters and step granddaughter.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Friday, June 1, 2007 at McColley's Chapels of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD, with Pastor Joe Birdsall officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.

A memorial has been established in Eleanor's name for the Bennett County Ambulance Fund.
