Emlon "Stan" Lee Stanton, Sr., age 84, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away on December 22, 2016, at his home in Hot Springs.
Emlon was born on June 3, 1932, in Mayfield, NY, to Ivan Lee and Marion (Hunter) Stanton. He served in the United States Air Force in Omaha, Bermuda, and the Artic.
He married Joyce Conbeer and to them 5 children were born; Karen, Lee, Ron, David, and Diana. Stan worked at a private park in upstate New York for a number of years. He came to the Hot Springs area in 1980, and worked at the feed lot and Hills Material. In 1990 he married Michele Mar Syrstad, and then adopted Rob. He was disabled in 1991 and lived the rest of his life happily on the ranch.
He is survived by his wife, Michele (Mar) Stanton of Hot Springs; sons, Emlon Lee Stanton, Jr. Kalispell, MT; Ronald Ray Stanton of Marion, MT; David Neil Stanton of Hot Springs; Robert Loren Stanton of Sioux Falls, SD; daughters, Karen Eileen Stanton of Hot Springs; Diana Lynn Donovan of Ft Mill, SC; brother-in-law, Ralph Knepper; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Marion Stanton; wife, Joyce Stanton; sister, Joyce Knepper.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs with Pastor Mark Crossman officiating.
