Esther P. Miller passed away March 20, at the age of 87. She was born June 14, 1923, to George and Anna (Saatoff) Gleeck in Lamars, IA.
She attended school in Edgemont, SD graduating in 1943. One June 7, 1943, she married John (Jack) Miller. The couple ranched on Lance Creek in Wyoming for several years and later moved to Edgemont, SD, which became their permanent home. Esther loved the ranch life and her favorite time of year was spring with all the baby animals to include bum lambs and raising baby chickens. She loved making dolls, crocheting, baking and gardening on the ranch. The most important priority in life was her children and grandchildren. She was dedicated to seeing they were all loved. She loved people and loved being there for support.
She was a member of the United Church of Edgemont, the Esther Rachel Circle of Rebekas and loved playing darts.
She is survived by four sons: John (Bill) Miller, Alliance, NE, Ronald (Diane) Miller, Powell, WY, Thomas Miller, Edgemont, SD, Robert (Linda) Miller, Alliance, NE, three daughters, Caroline (Glenn) Zerbst, Newcastle, WY, Nancy (Larry) Renz, Hot Springs, SD, Debbie (Brad) Vlotho, Lemoore, CA, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who considered her a second mom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John (Jack) Miller, her parents, two brothers, Hank and George Gleeck and her sister, Evelyn Murray.
Visitation will be from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2011 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Edgemont.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2011 at United Churches in Edgemont with Rev. Peary Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Edgemont Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Esther P. Miller's name to benefit the United Church of Edgemont.
