Obituary
Esther M. Springman, age 83, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away on October 11, 2017, at Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.
Esther was born on March 31, 1934, to Louis and Mary Minnie (McCall) Maretich in Hot Springs, SD. She was the youngest of five children. Esther graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1952, and then attended college at Chadron State before attending St. Jose University. After graduating with honors, Esther interned in St. Paul, MN, as a dietitian.
Esther married Jay Springman in Gordon, NE, in 1958, together they had three children: Janice Barton and her husband Mark of El Dorado, AR, Mark Springman and his wife Melissa of Prairieville, LA, and Carol Pastor and husband Jim of Rapid City, SD. She is also survived by and blessed with five grandchildren, Elizabeth Kellett, Erica Williams, Emily Jackson, Joshua Springman and Jessica Pastor.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
A private graveside service will be held.
In appreciation for the care and support Esther has received over the years, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Hot Springs Elderly Meals Program, South Dakota State Veterans Home, or the Hot Springs Public Library.
