Obituary

Estle Lea St. Pierre was born April 24, 1921 in Panhandle, TX, to James and Cora (French) Richards.

As a young girl she moved often with her family across the country to California to the narrow gauge railroad and lumber mill camps up in the Sierra Mountains above Tuolumne, CA, then back to Amarillo, TX to stand in soup lines and take the food back to her crippled mother.

Estle Lea graduated from high school in 1941 in Newcastle, WY. During WWII she moved back to Amarillo and was working at Walgreens at the lunch counter when she met her future husband, Joseph 'Joe' St. Pierre. He was training in the Army Air Corp at the time. They married in Amarillo after he returned from England when the war was over. Before getting married Estle Lea worked in the office of the Santa Fe Railroad in Amarillo. Joe, Estle Lea and their daughter, Joyce moved to Custer in May 1952, and Custer continued to be her home until Monday morning, August 13, 2012, when she went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Estle Lea was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her daughter, Joyce remembers being brought up in a home where her mother was singing hymns and praising the Lord as she went about her daily tasks. Estle Lea was and is a great testimony and example to her family and loved ones.

Survivors include her daughter, Joyce (Ron) Spear of Custer, SD; grandchildren, Troy (Sammi) Spear of Black Hawk, SD; Tracey (David) Williams of Custer; great-grandchildren, Anthony Williams; Joseph Williams; Charity Williams; Daniel Williams; Philip Williams; Braydon Spear and Brett Spear.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; sister, Louise Cloud and her parents, James and Cora Richards.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Mountainview Baptist Church in Custer with Pastor Matt Furse officiating with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Custer Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Estle Lea's name to benefit the Mountainview Baptist Church in Custer.
