Evelyn M. Carroll Alspach, 97, Rapid City, formerly of Custer, SD passed away August 31, 2008 at Black Hills Golden Living Center in Rapid City.
Evelyn was born March 31, 1911 to Squire and Maude (Verley) Gamber in Sheridan, WY, she was one of fourteen children. She married Glenn Carroll on July 18, 1929 to this union seven children were born. In November 1984 she married Claire Alspach. He passed away in 1985.
She is survived by her children, LaVern Carroll of Custer, SD; Marvin (Maggie) Carroll of Rapid City; Earl (Kathy) Carroll of Billings, MT; Beverly (Ben) Carlson of Edgemont, SD; Arlene (Harold) Flack of Rapid City; one brother, Bill Gamber of CO; twenty- three grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Bernard and Wayne Carroll; seven brothers; five sisters and her two husbands, Glenn Carroll and Claire Alspach.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2008 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer, SD with Pastor Bill Savery officiating. Interment will follow at Pringle Cemetery, Pringle, SD.
A memorial has been established in Evelyn's name to benefit the Pringle Volunteer Fire Department.
