Obituary

Evelyn Blanche Smith, age 67, passed away November 3, 2011, at her home in Hot Spring, SD.

Evie was born September 6, 1944, in Los Alamos, NM, to George and Elenita (Anderson) Prunty when her father was an electrician who worked on the Manhattan Project where they developed the atomic bomb. Her birth certificate listed Rural, NM because of the secrecy of the place.

She attended college in Lincoln, NE where she met her future husband who she stayed with for 47 years. Evie received two degrees, one in Early Child Education and the other in Medical Technology, which she loved.

She lived a full life. She lived in 6 towns and the country of Palau.

Evie was a loving wife and mother which she devoted her life to. Her death was much too early.

Survivors include her husband, Duane of Hot Springs; three sons, Bradley (Cortney) Smith of Naples, FL; Jeffrey (Tammy) Smith of Brighton, CO; Timothy Smith of Denver, CO; brother, Fred (Sandy) Prunty of Sheridan, WY, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs with Pastor Joseph Story officiating.

Interment will be at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
