Evelyn Luella Merrill, 93, formerly of Hot Springs, SD, passed away on November 5, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society-St. Martin Village in Rapid City, SD.

Evelyn was born on June 18, 1925, in Hot Springs, SD, to Peter H. and Lizzie (Freese) Lorenz. She graduated from Hot Springs High School. Evelyn worked in the health care profession as a medical records technician at the Southern Hills General Hospital. She loved traveling and excursions through the Black Hills taking in all the beautiful nature where ever she traveled.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Craig (Samara) Merrill of Dammeron Valley, UT; Bob (Nancy) Merrill of Akron, OH; daughter in law, Ruby Gooden of Rapid City, SD; son in law, Dick Richter of Enning, SD; twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Peter H. and Lizzie (Freese) Lorenz; first husband, Ben Gooden; second husband, Robert E. Merrill; son, Larry Gooden and daughter, Nancy Richter.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018, with a visitation one-hour prior, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs with Pastor John McKnight officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.
