Florence Mary Howard (Culver), age 100, went home to be with the Lord July 18, 2012, at her home near Custer, SD.
Florence was born July 14, 1912, in Twilight, Butte County, SD to Todd and Bertha (Keegan) Culver. She married Willis Howard in 1935, they were married for 66 years. She taught school from 1933 until 1974 in South Dakota, Wyoming and Michigan. She was a life time member of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Rebekah's, Senior Center of Hot Springs, SD, and the Ladies of Encampment.
Florence will be remembered by her family and friends for her caring, compassion, and dedication to learning.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Loyce May of Custer; son, Donald (Caren) Howard of Argyle; sister Ora Lee Ackerman of Maryland; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Rebekah Rites will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2012, with visitation following until 6:00 p.m. at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2012 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer with Pastor Matt Furse officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
Committal will follow at 3:00 p.m., at the Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche, SD.
A memorial has been established in Florence's name to benefit the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Mountain View Baptist Mission Fund.
