Obituary
Florence Jewell Mattox, age 75, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, at her home in Custer, SD.
Florence was born July 28, 1933 in Custer County, SD to George James and Vienna (Akes) Woodford. She graduated from the eighth grade at the Park School in rural Custer County. Florence lived on her parents' ranch, northwest of Custer, until 1960 when she moved to town and then later back to the country. She Married Bill Morris in April of 1950 and was divorced from him on November 1, 1950. Florence married Leo Mattox on October 27, 1957. Leo died on February 8, 1973. Florence took pleasure in her children and animals. She was most happy outdoors even in her later years, while almost blind.
Florence is survived by her five daughters, Aurora Woodford of Chicago, IL; Hope (Dale) Kranzler of Ashland, MT; Joy Mattox of Custer; Berta (Paul) Brown of Huron, SD; Dawn Lake of Lake Andes, SD; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, two daughters and three sons.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Berean Bible Church with Pastor Gary Pokorney officiating.
