Forrest Reed Haley, age 84, lifetime resident of Hot Springs, SD, passed away December 28, 2013, at the Hospice House in Rapid City, SD, surrounded by his loving family.

Forrest was born in Hot Springs, SD, on July 16, 1929, to Reed and Nellie (Avery) Haley. He graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1947. He married Dolores Whitley on September 18, 1949. Forrest was a longtime grocery and restaurant manager as well as owner of the Sears Retail Store. He was a member of the Elks Club #1751 for 47 years and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

He was an avid golfer and member of the Southern Hills Country Club for many years. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, and woodworking including the wooden Nativity Scene for St. John's.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores of Hot Springs; son, Thomas (Sherri) Haley of Winlock, WA; daughters, Karen (Chuck) March of Hot Springs; Janet (Gaylan) Sieg of Hot Springs; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2014, at St. John's Lutheran Church near Maverick Jct. with Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.
