Freda M. Aman, 76, of Custer, SD, passed away May 15, 2010, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Freda was born August 23, 1933 in Merna, NE, and was the only child of Lloyd and Juanita (McCarty) Waffensmith. She was raised at Pringle, SD, where she met and grew up with James V. Aman, whom she married in Chadron, NE.

Freda taught school in Edgemont for one year and in Custer for six years. She also served as a member of the Custer School Board for twelve years. Freda's most important job was raising ten children. She was a very loving and caring mother who lived for her kids. Her main emphasis was to make sure that each one of her children received a good education.

Wake services will be held 7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Custer.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, May 20, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Kovarik officiating. Interment will follow at the Custer Cemetery in Custer.

Freda is survived by her husband, James V. Aman of Custer; nine children, Cindy (John) Daly of Box Elder, SD; Mike (Lori) Aman of Blair, NE; Carol Aman of Nampa, ID; John (Peggy) Aman of Parker, CO; Lloyd Aman of Custer; Sandra (Stan) Stenson of Ingleside, TX; James R. Aman of Tillamook, OR; Richard Aman, Lakewood, CA; Stephen (Libby) Aman of Andover, MN; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Freda is preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Patricia Aman.
