Freda Louise Stevens Hansen age 77, of Hot Springs, SD, formerly of Denver, CO, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs.

She was born August 10, 1935, in Gordon, NE to Francis and Doris (Mattsen) Stevens. She attended Coleman School in rural Fall River County and Hot Springs High School. She attended night school at National School of Business in Rapid City. She married Richard Hansen in 1953. The later divorced.

Freda worked at Peoples Telephone Company in Hot Springs as an operator for several years. She then moved to Denver, Co, and worked at May D & F Stores, Land & Title Company, and Market Perceptions retiring in 2003.

Survivors include one brother, Marvin Stevens of Hot Springs; niece, Deb (Don) Robertson of La Center, WA; nephews, Jim (Darla) Stevens; Alan (Michelle) Stevens both of Hot Springs; five great nieces, Tylea, Heather, Sarah, Laree and Mikayla; two great nephews, Seth and Riley; one great great-niece, Alix and two great great-nephews, Jarek and Brody; one uncle, Richard Mattsen of Montrose, CO, and several cousins.

A memorial service will be held Monday, January 28, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs with Pastor Matt Lim officiating. Committal will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.

A memorial has been established in Freda's name to benefit the Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
