Gary Cummings of Yerington, NV, was called home to be with the Lord on August 24, 2025. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born on December 19, 1940, in Newcastle, WY, to Marvin and Elizabeth (Crum) Cummings. He grew up with his brother, Dennis (Mary) Cummings.

On August 4, 1961, Gary married the love of his life, Judy Hamaker, in Edgemont, SD. Together, they were blessed with three children: Shelia Gamez of Reno, NV; Vonda (Clint) Moxey of Reno, NV; and Marvin Cummings of Elko, NV.

In 1986, after the closing of the mine in Edgemont, Gary and Judy moved to Nevada, first making their home in Ely before settling in Yerington, where they shared the remainder of their lives together.

Gary was deeply proud of his family and especially cherished his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by eight grandchildren: RaeLynn (Mike) DeLaRosa, Amber Boyd, Kent Gamez, Drew Franklin, Tyrell (Shayla) Cummings, Cierra Gamez, Riley (Savana) Cummings, and Shylee Moxey; as well as seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Elizabeth, his beloved wife Judy, and his brother Dennis.

Grave side services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Edgemont Cemetery, followed by a gathering at the United Church. Everyone is then welcome to join the family at the Victory Steakhouse and Lounge to celebrate Gary's life.

Pastor John McKnight will officiate. Honorary pallbearers are Dave Crum, Clarence Anderson, Bill Porter, Joe Fox, Emmett Faulkner, and Chuck Shutter.

A memorial has been established in Gary's name to benefit the United Church in Edgemont, SD.
