Gary Carl Jensen, 80, went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2025. Gary was born in Hot Springs, SD, on November 27, 1944, to Carl and Bettie Jensen. He grew up and attended school in Buffalo Gap, SD, and was part of the last graduating class of Buffalo Gap High School.

Gary began his career in law enforcement in Hot Springs and Custer, and later in Red Lodge, Montana, before returning to South Dakota.

In 1970, he met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Benton, who had two young children that he adopted. Gary and Carol were married for 43 years until her passing in 2013.

Gary loved camping with his family and enjoyed riding his motorcycle on road trips with his good friend Phil Knapp and other friends.

Gary is survived by his sister, Karen Morgan (Blaine) of Oral, SD; his son, Rob Jensen (Tracy) of AK; his daughter, Shari Thompson (Duane) of NC; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his good friend, Brian Kessner of MT; and many other friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Bettie Jensen; his wife, Carol; and two brothers, Bob and Kevin Jensen.

At Gary's request, there will be no funeral. Graveside services and interment will be at a later date.
