Gayle Rae Sutter, 68, of San Jacinto, CA passed away in her sleep May 10, 2017 in Custer, SD.
A memorial service will be held at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer, SD on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM.
Gayle was born in Torrance, CA to Ray and Pearl Painter on September 3, 1948.
Her father was an Air Force auditor, which provided Gayle with a rich life of travel, growing up in places like England and Istanbul, Turkey. She graduated from Chippewa Valley High School in Sterling Heights, MI and went on to study cosmetology, graduating from Jons School of Cosmetology in Lompoc, CA in 1970. She married her soulmate, Steven Sutter on June 19, 1971. Gayle ran her own business and dedicated her career to providing and styling high quality wigs for chemotherapy patients throughout the San Jacinto Valley in California for over 30 years. In 2005, Gayle and her husband realized their dream of retiring to the Black Hills of South Dakota where she enjoyed spending time surrounded by her grandchildren, watching movies, and administrating political groups online.
Gayle is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Pearl Painter and her brother, Rick Painter.
Gayle is survived by her husband of 45 years, Steven Sutter; her three daughters Jennifer Sutter-Stewart, Kellie Sutter, and Christina (Todd) Rinks; and her five grandsons Ethan Raby, Kavan Raby, Alex Stewart, Ahren Raby, and Gerik Raby.
