Obituary
Gene Loren Phillips, age 84, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away on April 6, 2015, at the VA Medical Center in Hot Springs.
Gene was born on October 12, 1930, in Custer, SD, to William "Les" and Lena Mae (Dumke) Phillips. He served in the United States Army from 1952, until his honorable discharge in 1954.
Gene married Joyce Hendrickson on June 18, 1950. They operated a dairy farm in Custer until 1969, when they sold their dairy cattle and started raising beef cattle. In 1972, they moved to Minnekahta Valley where they ranched.
Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to watch and help with kid's rodeos.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Phillips, and son, Scott (Kristi) Phillips all of Hot Springs.
A celebration of life will be held 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2015, at the Hot Springs American Legion Post in Hot Springs.
In lieu of flowers the family asks memorials in Gene's name benefit the Fall River County Fair Play Day and Oelrichs Last Roundup Play Day.
