George is a veteran of both WWII and Korea, holding the rank of Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Military Police.

George's passion was flying, and he became a pilot at just 15 years of age.  He was a lifelong pilot, where he was free to escape the bounds of earth and soar the majesty of the heavens.

George relocated to Elizabeth, Colorado in 2005 to be close to his daughter Jeanne and his grandchildren.  There he built and established the Caylor Ranch, where he loved to spend time planting Ponderosa Pines, working the land, and playing with his beloved dog, and faithful companion in his truck, his Doberman "Dobie".

George is loved and cherished by immediate family members, oldest daughter Jeanne Ann Caylor-Schmidt, son-in-law Gary Schmidt; grandchildren Misty Sanford, Andrea Mujica, and Eli Schmidt; Great grandchildren Gabriella Sanford, Aria Mujica, and Elijah Schmidt.  George is also survived by his youngest daughter, Dr. Julie Leighton, and his sister Shirley (Caylor).  George is also survived by numerous cousins and other relatives.  George was preceded in passing by his brother, Johnny Caylor, as well as his parents Lena J. (Miller) Caylor and John Erwin Caylor.
