Gerald V. Alder, passed on November 16, 2025 in Hot Springs, SD. He was born July 5, 1941, to Dewey and Julia (Kneupple) Alder and he graduated from Buffalo Gap High School.

He married Paulene Miller and they had three daughters, Melody; Teresa, and Geraldene.  Jerry worked many jobs throughout his life; he was happiest outdoors. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, salvaging, cutting firewood and any work that let him stay close to the nature he cherished. He loved being around family and friends. He was an avid watcher of sports and enjoyed long walks. He was a member of the 90-mile club. He enjoyed playing cribbage with Darlene every morning. He and Darlene, his best friend for 40 years, lived on her family ranch in Caputa, SD, for all those years.

He leaves behind Melody (Jerry Vliem); Teresa Alder; Geraldene (Steve Dyer); Darlene May; Robin (Craig Robertson); Patsy (Jim Besson);  Carolynn Anderson (Rick Sutter); Penny May (Don Wright) and  Jim May. He also leaves behind numerous grandkids; great grandkids and great great grandkids.  Gerald is preceded in death by Jim May; Braden Vliem and his parents.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

He is gone from our sight but not from our hearts.
