Gerald Lee (Jerry) Gordon, age 73, of Hot Springs, SD, died on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at the VA Medical Center in Hot Springs, SD.
Jerry was born on August 30, 1939, in Pierre, SD to the late Lowell and Lavon Gordon.
Jerry joined the US Navy in 1956 and served on the USS Kearsarge and was stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1960. Jerry married Linda Parks on December 24, 1965 and had 5 children through their marriage. He worked on various construction projects throughout the state of South Dakota.
Jerry was a terrific artist using graphite as his means for creating his wildlife drawings. Jerry will be laid to rest in the Black Hills National Cemetery.
Jerry is survived by sons, Michael Gordon of Helena, MT and Lowell Gordon and partner John Ostgarden of Medford, MN and daughter, LaTresa (Gordon) Zeller and husband William of Pierre, SD; grandsons, Blaine and Brandon Zeller of Pierre, SD; granddaughters, Willow Zeller of Pierre, SD and Michelle Gordon and partner James Van Den Oever of Sioux Falls, SD; great grandson, George, Van Den Oever of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, William Gordon and wife Pat of Pierre, SD, and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
He was predeceased in death by sons, Todd and Hudson Gordon, parents, Lowell and Lavon (Sommer) Gordon, sister, Sandra Gordon and brother, James Gordon.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2012, at the State Veterans Home Auditorium in Hot Springs with Chaplain Loyd Nielson officiating.
Burial will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2012, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. SD, with Reverend Denzel Nonhof officiating.
