Obituary

Gerald William Parks of Edgemont SD (formerly of Newcastle, WY and Big Timber, MT) died Sunday, September 26 at Cactus Hills Retirement Community.

He was born July 26, 1929 to Amos Clark and Stella Cross-Clark in Meda, MO. Upon his mother's death, he was taken in by Jim and Agnes Parks, who adopted him and his twin sister Geraldine. Gerald went to school in Spokane Mine, Custer and Igloo through the 10th grade. Gerald then joined the US Navy. He served eight proud years on aircraft carriers working in mechanics, crash aviation, and the fire department. Gerald completed his high school education in the navy where he also trained as a lineman which became his lifetime career. Gerald also spent some years drilling water wells with his Father. The well that supplies the Waterfall by Centennial Park in Hot Springs, SD is one that he drilled.

Gerald was active in the American Legion and was a member of Post 19 in Big Timber, MT. He participated in the Memorial Day Services and Color Guard for many years. Gerald was very patriotic and proud to be an American. He was fiercely devoted to his family and friends and spent many happy times with them. He most especially loved to fish.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard, and a sister Margie. He is survived by his Daughter, Kimberly Robins of Ovando MT; one brother, Omar Clark (Sheron) of Custer SD; three sisters, Opal Davis (George) of Hot Springs SD, Geraldine Waterbury of Hill City SD, and Martha Muller (Don) of Rapid City SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, September 7, 2007 in the Chapel at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis SD with Reverend Charles Conger officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Legion Post #19, 110 East 3 Ave, Big Timber MT 59011.
