Gladys L. Halls was born January 4, 1923, to James and Magdalena (Rohrbach) Lancaster at Oerlrichs, SD.  She passed on March 19, 2022, at Seven Sisters Living Center.  She lived in Fall River County.

Gladys worked at several different jobs, Leschy's Second Hand Store, Gibsons, Eastep Western Wear and Domestic Electric.   In 1952 she became a substitute mail carrier for her mother-in-law and took over the route in 1962.  She carried mail until 1995, when her grandson got the route.  She enjoyed her family, ranching, gardening, reading and later in life she enjoyed word search puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Bus) Halls; daughter, Sharon (Phil) Arseneault; son-in-law, Phil Arseneault; daughter-in-law, Florence Halls; grandson, David Larson; great grandsons, Elijah Arseneault; Jaxon Larson; granddaughter-in-law, Sandy Larson, her parents; brothers, Harvey; James; Elmer, sisters, Margaret; Ada; Florence; Marie; Gracie Elaine and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Halls; daughter, Marilyn (Poncho) Torres; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 25 great great grandchildren plus nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.  Committal services will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Hot Springs Fire Department or the Cascade Fire Department.
