Obituary

Gladys May Moller, 79, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away December 20, 2017, at Seven Sisters Living Center in Hot Springs with her family at her side.

Gladys was born August 11, 1938, in Alexandria, SD, to Xavier Francis and Della May (Foster) Kayser.

Gladys is survived by her husband, Gary Moller of Hot Springs; children, Dan (Joy) Moller of Rapid City, SD; Scott (Tinka) Moller of Alliance, NE; Penny (Jay) Alderman of Rapid City; Connie Kanaan of Rapid City; Julie Moller of Rapid City; Pam (Don) McDonald of Alliance, NE; Mark (Heather) Moller of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Harriet Haines of Green Bay, WI; Shelli Kayser of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Richard (Judy) Kayser of Alexandria; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Gladys has always been passionate about life, and lived it to the fullest. Her family always came first and nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by them. Family gatherings were a loud, crazy, loving environment where they shared food, stories, and a few antics, mostly by the "boys" in her life! Holidays were especially significant – whether it was root beer floats and fireworks on the 4th of July, the famous Easter Bunny song (you have to hear it to believe it) or endless gifts at Christmas. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren, making sure each of them had a special gift. Her strength, courage, and spirit live in each of them.

Gladys has always had a special place in her heart for the veterans and her work family and friends at the VA Center in Hot Springs. She loved to make them happy through her special talent of making bulletin boards. She spent hours of her personal time making sure they were "just right." Nothing made her happier than to walk the halls on Halloween dressed in homemade costumes that took weeks to prepare. She was even happier when she took side trips to the school to embarrass Mark!

She loved her community and wanted to give back and be a part of it. In her final days, her family heard numerous comments about how everyone knew Gladys and she always brought a smile to their faces. To all those who helped her in the end – you have been a blessing to Gladys and the family cannot thank you enough for your kindness and friendship.

Mom, you have completed your journey on this earth, touching hundreds of hearts along the way. Now it is time to spread your wings and fly. We love you forever.
