Glen George Stewart, age 72, passed away September 14, 2011, at his home in Edgemont, SD.
Glen was born February 22, 1939, in Riverdale TWP., Watonwan County, MN to John and Iloa (Childes) Stewart. He graduated from St. James High School in St. James, MN and served and was honorably discharged from the Army Reserve from 1962-1965 and the Navy Reserve from 1967-1971. Glen worked for Balceans Auto in Cheyenne, WY, for thirteen years when his niece, Christy Stewart and Lucille's daughter, Rosellen Straub (Grandy) arranged their first meeting. Glen and Lucille have been inseparable since. They married two years later on February 14, 1975, in Cheyenne. Glen was proud to step into the role of stepfather to Lucille's four children. He also worked for Cal-Cas transportation until the company moved and then for Diesel Service, both in Cheyenne. They then moved to Naponee, NE, to enjoy the living of a small town. Glen ran a small engine repair shop and eventually retired from Coleman Powermate in Kearney, NE. Glen and Lucille then moved to Edgemont in 2006 and shortly thereafter Glen became a devoted member of the Edgemont Community Church where he rarely missed a Sunday service, Monday men's meeting or Tuesday prayer meetings. He was also a member of the Edgemont Senior Center where he enjoyed his morning cup of coffee and visiting with friends and was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Cheyenne Lodge 257.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2011, at the Edgemont Assembly of God Church with Pastor K.C. Smith officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Stewart of Edgemont; sons, Wayne (Roni) Straub of Edgemont; Dean (Glenda) Straub of Cheyenne, WY; daughters, Teresa Straub of Cheyenne, WY; Rosellen (Kim) Grandy of North Pole, AK; brothers, Bill (Myra) Stewart of Heron Lake, MN; Henry 'Hank' Stewart of Fairmont, NE; Roy Stewart of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren, Iris Boehm, Abby Grandy; Jessica Armstrong and Kim Grandy all of Fairbanks AK; three great-grandchildren who are all in Fairbanks as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials in Glen's name may be sent to either the Edgemont Assembly of God or the Edgemont Senior Citizen's Center.
