Glenda "Carol" Randolph Gilmour, age 77, passed away May 22, 2016, at her home near Hot Springs, SD, after a brave battle with cancer with her loving husband, Duane, at her bedside.
Carol was born January 4, 1939, in Pierre, SD, to Glenn and Evelyn (Powell) Randolph. Carol married Darrel Hamann and out of that union, three daughters, Julie; Lisa and Darla, were born. The family moved from Pierre to North Dakota to ranch. Darrel's accident brought them to Rapid City, SD, in the early 1970's. Carol then married Arden C. Clark on December 9, 1979. She worked as Director of the Farmers Home Administration's Self Help Housing program and also consulted for the States of South Dakota, North Dakota and Wyoming for this program. Carol married Duane Gilmour on March 31, 2001. Carol and Duane owned and operated Abbey Carpets in Rapid City until 2014. She liked to spend her time watching birds, tending flower gardens and being with her dogs.
Carol is survived by her husband, Duane; three daughters, Julie (Steve) Priewe of Houston, TX; Lisa (John) Wilson of Rapid City; Darla (Glen) Elshire of Smithwick, SD; sister, Kaye (Bill) Nichol of Black Hills, NJ; brother, Larry (Laurie) Randolph of Elko, NV; four stepdaughters, Stephanie (Mick) Szczukowki of California; Erin Gilmour Pier, Bison; Heather (Brett) Grosz of Rapid City; Courtney (Dale) Gilmour-Hardy of Rapid City; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Carol will be missed by all who were fortunate to know and love her.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; first and second husbands, several aunts and uncles as well as her step-grandson, Conner Hardy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2016, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, in Hot Springs, with Fr. Kerry Prendiville and Fr. Kordan Januz as celebrants.
Committal services will be held 2:30 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
A memorial in Carol's name has been established to benefit the National Cancer Society.
