Glenda K. Reder-Lorenz, age 66, of Hot Springs, SD, went to meet her Heavenly Father on February 16, 2016, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Glenda was born on July 11, 1949, in Hot Springs, to Robert and Virginia (Callan) Hansen. Glenda grew up in the Hot Springs area and graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1967. She married her high school sweetheart, James W. Reder in June of 1968. Together, they were blessed with one daughter, Tringie Rae.
Glenda was a Certified Paralegal and worked for several local attorneys as well as land and title companies. She worked at the Fall River County Clerk of Courts office for 20 years and had the privilege of being a clerk magistrate for five clerks, including her very good friend Lorry Lou Millett. She loved working in the court system and was very dedicated until her retirement in June 2011. In 1995, she founded the non-profit protective payee corporation Fall River Services which helped many local veterans and others with disabilities pay their monthly bills, find housing, and get basic necessities. She always went above and beyond in helping her clients.
On December 20, 2003, Glenda married LaRoy Lorenz after a three year courtship. They enjoyed dancing, socializing with their friends, long drives in the country, and summers boating at the lake. After LaRoy retired from ranching, they bought their dream home at Angostura. Glenda made every house she lived in a beautiful home. She enjoyed gardening and was always working on her next project. They were blessed with great neighbors who quickly became best friends. Glenda enjoyed cooking and entertaining for the whole neighborhood. She loved weddings and Christmas, and did catering for many local weddings. Glenda and LaRoy shared a love of traveling. Together with friends, they enjoyed going on five cruises, visiting many tropical locations, having lots of new adventures along the way. They also enjoyed numerous vacations with their family throughout the country, including a recent trip to Disneyworld.
Glenda will be remembered for her zest for life, her generosity, always helping those in need, and her big heart. She will be deeply missed by her many life-long friends and her family. One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandmother.
