H. Richard Brechtel, 67, of Abilene, TX, passed away March 14, 2010, the result of an automobile accident, three miles north of Oelrichs, SD, on HWY 18.


Richard was born October 8, 1942, in New Underwood, SD, to Hubert Clinton and Ida (Wilcox) Brechtel and made his living as an airplane mechanic.


Richard touched many lives and was dearly loved by family and friends.


Richard is survived by his son, M. Richard Brechtel Light of Bradenton, FL; one brother, Jon (Elizabeth) Brechtel of Hot Springs, SD, as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son, Clifton Brechtel Light; his parents, Hubert Clinton Brechtel and Ida Wilcox Brechtel Peterson and stepfather, Paul Peterson.


A private memorial will be held at a later date.
