Harley G. Wilson, age 91, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away February 19, 2012, at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home in Hot Springs.
Harley was born April 8, 1920, in Minneapolis, MN, to Harley E. and Olive M. (Whitter) Wilson. He graduated from North Dakota School of Science and Technology. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from November 27, 1941 until his honorable discharge on October 27, 1947. Harley worked for 62 years in refrigeration and air conditioning in Hot Springs. He was a 50 year member of the Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the VFW, American Legion and an active member of Bethesda Lutheran Church.
Harley is survived by his wife of 61 years, Grace of Hot Springs; son, Harley D. (Sandra) Wilson of Hot Springs; daughters, Gayle (Jeff) Voeller of Climax, MN; Anita (Randy) Roberts of Box Elder, SD; son-in-law, Wayne Wharton of Aurora, CO; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Carla Wharton, and three brothers.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2012, at Bethesda Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Jacobson officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2012, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. Military Honors will be provided by the South Dakota National Guard and the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guards.
Memorials in Harley's name may be sent to the Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department or the Bethesda Lutheran School.
