Hayley Elizabeth Kern, 36, of Custer, SD, passed away January 14, 2022 in Fort Pierre, SD.

Hayley was born March 21, 1985, in Kimball, Nebraska.

Hayley's children were the light in her world, she loved them so much. The times they spent together were full of fun and love.  She loved her nephews and enjoyed every minute she had with them. Hayley loved the game of basketball and was a huge Lakers and Kobe Bryant fan. She loved to fish with her kids and anything outdoors.  Hayley loved deeply.

Hayley is survived by her parents, Teresa and David Cortney of Custer, SD; Doug Berger of Kimball, NE; children, Bentley; Carter; Austin; brother, Nate Cortney (Mycalyn) and nephews, Mason, Talen, Gradin, Jaxtan and Isaiah Cortney of Edgemont, SD; grandparents, Larry and Kathleen Stahla of Kimball, NE; uncle, Steve Stahla (Bonnie)of Sundance WY; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her uncles, John Stahla; Vince Cortney; Dan Cortney; grandparents, John and Betty Teare; Robert Biggs; Carl and Fern Stahla; Ron and Blanche Cortney; Margie Heidemann and cousin, Judy Cortney.

Christian Funeral Vigil will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Custer, SD.

Christian Funeral Mass will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday,  January 29, 2022 at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Custer, SD.

In lieu of Flowers a scholarship fund has been set up for Hayley's children at the 1 ^st Interstate Bank in Edgemont and Custer.
