Helen Carroll, 82 Silver City, NM, Formerly of Custer, SD passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007 in a Phoenix Hospital.

Helen was born August 3, 1924 to Harvey and Lillian Jones. She married Wayne Carroll on May 23, 1959 and they lived in Sturgis, SD for 5 years where she and Wayne worked at the Bear Butte National Parks Visitor Center and Campground. They later moved to Custer where Helen worked at the Courthouse in the Tax Assessor's Office until she retired.

Helen loved working in her flower gardens and visiting friends and neighbors. The most precious things in Helen's life were her grandchildren and great grandson. She was also active in the Eastern Star and Job's Daughters organizations. Wayne died in July of 1996 and Helen moved to Silver City, NM to be closer to her son.

Survivors include her son, Ron (Ginger) Stickland, a daughter; Rhonda (David) Wilhelmi, one granddaughter, Tammy (Ryan) Cross, two grandsons; Mitchell Wilhelmi, Michael (Amber) Wilhelmi and one great grandson, Steven Cross.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers; Eddie Jim, Doug, Bobby and Don, 2 sisters; Marjorie, Anna, 2 brother-in laws and a grandson; Kyle Wilhelmi.

A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday April 6, 2007 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer, SD, with Pastor Martin Nussbaum officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow services at the Custer Cemetery.
