Obituary

Henry William "Buck" Peters, age 96, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away on July 9, 2015, at the Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs.

Buck was born in Fall River County, SD, on April 26, 1919, to John and Anna (Mahler) Peters. At the age of three years the family relocated to Delta, CO, where he grew to manhood. From an early age he spent his time with horses, roaming all over Delta County on horseback. He attended Delta School through the eighth grade. Married to Ethel L. Nichols in 1941, at Delta. They farmed and ranched there until 1955, when he returned to the ranch established by his Grandfather, Herman Mahler near Cascade Falls in Fall River County.

In 1979, he married Lavonne Fryett Aadson, and made his home in Hot Springs. They enjoyed traveling and being a tourist seeing many sites all over the US, Ireland, Canada, Mexico and Hawaii. He loved to show pictures and tell about places he had seen. His other hobbies were reading western novels and listening to and dancing to classic Country Music.

He is survived by his beloved wife, LaVonne Peters of Hot Springs; daughters, Wanda Aaberg of Hot Springs; Ethel (Petey) Fleming of Stephenville TX; sons, Jim (Janie) Peters of Blackwell, TX; Henry R. Peters of Hot Springs; Mike Peters of Hot Springs; sister, Ruth Russell of Cortez, CO; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren; step children, Doug Aadson of Florida, Deb Zigler and Beverly Sweeney of IL.

Buck is preceded in death by a son, Virgil; one granddaughter, Sarah Peters, two grandsons, Chuckie Miller and Cory James Peter; stepdaughter, Kathy Aadson; two brothers, Charlie and Raymond; two sisters, Louise Graybeal and Blanche Ryan.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 -7:00 p.m., Monday, July 13, 2015, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs with Rev. Gary Jacobsen officiating. Committal services will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Buck's name to benefit the Bethesda Lutheran School.
