J Lawrence "Larry" Stoddard, DVM of Custer SD went home to the Lord on Friday August 25, 2006 as the result of a tractor rollover accident.
Larry was born on July 31, 1934 in Alamosa, Colorado to JL and Elizabeth (Rowe) Stoddard. He attended elementary school and high school in Alamosa, completed his bachelor's degree studies at Oklahoma State University and completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University. He practiced in Montana, California, Iowa and South Dakota. He had a deep love and compassion for animals, a trait that was appreciated by many.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Sherry Pade-Stoddard of Custer, a son Russell (Brenda) Stoddard of Baker, MT, a son JL Stoddard of Missoula, MT, a daughter Janice (David) McFarland of Molt, MT, a daughter Lynn Stoddard of Miles City, MT, two stepsons Scott and Chad Ellwanger, four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren, a brother Albert (Nancy) Stoddard, DVM of Broadus, MT and long time friend Teddy Stoddard of Baker, MT.
He is preceded in death by his parents JL and Elizabeth Stoddard and a nephew, Bert Stoddard.
A visitation for the family will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 28, 2006 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer and Memorial Services will follow at 2:00 pm.
