James LeRoy DeHaven, 71, passed away September 5, 2009, at his home in Custer, SD.
James was born November 16, 1937, in Emporia, KS to his mother Evelyn Swango, and birth father, Clarence Green. However, he was raised by his dad and mother, James and Evelyn Dehaven.
James proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War from November of 1954, until his honorable discharge in 1962.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Custer; three sons, Rick (Adriana) DeHaven of Custer; James (Brenda) DeHaven of East Hartford, CT; T.J. (Cindy) DeHaven of Dayton, NV; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at the Custer Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Stokes officiating.
Memorials have been established in James' name to benefit the Cancer Institute in Rapid City, Rapid City Regional Hospital or Hospice of the Southern Hills.
