James was born on January 31, 1938, in Hot Springs, SD, to Frank James and Alice Ruth (Martz) Denton.
He is survived by his sister, Betty (Hank) Mowry of Rapid City, SD; and brother, Melvin (Rita) Denton of Alpine, WY.
