James William 'Jim' Montgomery, 31, while at his home, went to be with our Lord on March 17, 2010.
Jim was born in Aberdeen, SD, to Joseph William Montgomery and Karen Marie Montgomery-Smith on January 12, 1979.
He is survived by his father, Dr. Joe Montgomery of Buffalo Gap; mother, Karen Montgomery-Smith of Hot Springs, SD; sister, Ms. Shawn Weist and four nieces of Aberdeen, SD; brother, Brad Montgomery and one nephew of Buffalo Gap.
Jim's talents consisted of many, however, he especially is known for his auto mechanic abilities. He was a co-owner of "Transmission Works" of Aberdeen with his Uncle Don and Aunt Peggy Foster. Jim's health led to his choosing a less physical career. He attended NSU in Aberdeen for one year and the School of Mines in Rapid City for one and one-half years, where he earned a 4.0 GPA. His goal was to become a physician.
Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aberdeen, however, since his move to Buffalo Gap he worshiped the Lord at Calvary Baptist Church in Hot Springs. He spent his life being the man we all loved and respected. A few months ago, Jim placed this quotation on Facebook "The pinnacle of my existence will be the day I prostrate myself before the Lord and He tells me I was right to believe in Him".
Jim was willing and enjoyed sharing his time and talents with family, friends and strangers. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fly-fishing, hunting as well as spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed showing his family the beauty of the land he'd made his new home, the Black Hills. He especially enjoyed the back roads where few people traveled.
Jim's quick smile and calm, quiet demeanor blessed all who came to know him. Many are sharing how his life was and is an example to follow because of his love for Jesus. His life revealed God's love, to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jim is loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed!
