James Kevin Boekhout (Jim) was born June 14 1946 in Sidney, NE, he departed from life on October 9, 2018 in Colorado Springs, CO. He spent his early childhood in NE and SD. He started school in Missoula, MT and graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1964. Jim joined the Navy and later attended collage at SD state and University of WY.  He retired from the VA center in Albuquerque, NM.

Jim was a happy, sunny little boy and a young man. He made friends easily, loved the outdoors, including camping, hiking and fishing. He was an avid rock climber and skydiver. He always enjoyed reading and loved discussing history with his family and friends. He loved his family and was a "favorite uncle" to his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his Mother, Neva Shedden Boekhout,  1 brother, Marc,  Pine Haven, WY, 3 sisters, Barbara Ditmansen, Hot Springs, SD,  Leslie Valandra, Bridgewater, SD and Amy (Bob) Crosby of Hot Springs, SD and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andy Boekhout.

Graveside rites will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2018, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
