Obituary

Janet "Jan" Ann Martin, 71 passed away peacefully at her Edgemont home on July 16, 2024, after a lengthy illness. She was born August 22, 1952 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota to Donald and Shearmon "Sherrie" (Hamerly) Martin.

After her father's death, Jan was blessed to have a wonderful "second dad" - James Huston, of Atlanta, Texas. He helped to ensure she had every advantage he could provide for her in life. He survives her.

After her formal schooling, she settled into a career in the oil and gas industry, following in the footsteps of her father and older sister, Susan "Susie" Donna Martin Collins.

Jan was joined by her life partner and husband, Dean Glenn in Denver, Colorado on October 1, 1988. They shared 36 years of life with many common interests and activities. He survives her.

Also surviving are a stepson, Christopher Glenn, 37 of Lakewood, Colorado, and 28 nieces and nephews. Maternal cousins Mike Hamerly of Virginia and Donald Hamerly and Sandy Hamerly of Texas also survived her.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, sisters Linda and Susie, paternal uncle and aunt, Harry and Elaine Martin of Custer, maternal uncle and aunt, Bobbie and Francis Hamerly of Nederland, Texas, maternal uncle Eddie Ray Hamerly of Woodville, Texas, paternal cousins David and Edward Martin of Lennox, South Dakota, and maternal cousin, David Hamerly of San Antonio, Texas.

Jan's remains will be interred at Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville, Texas with several generations of her family in August. At her request, there will be no memorial service.
