Jani Rae Delano was born on August 1, 1952 in Kadoka, SD.

She loved adventure and travel and didn't like her roots to get too deep. Her wanderlust moved her around the country, mainly between South Dakota, Colorado, and New Mexico. She loved nature and art, and mixed the two beautifully. Whether it was collecting rocks by the river, collecting sticks in the mountains or collecting furniture at the flea market, she found and revealed life into all the projects she tackled. Her nomadic spirit left its earthly being on October 31, 2024.
