Jean Ann (Uhl) Hannan, age 67, of Hot Springs, SD passed away on April 5, 2014, at the State Veterans Home in Hot Springs.
Jean was born in Chadron, NE on February 23, 1947, to Donald E. and Lavona B. (Riddle) Uhl. She attended Hot Springs schools and graduated in 1965. Jean worked for Peoples Phone Company as a switch board operator and later as a care provider with Home Health Services. Jean married Vernon Max Hannan on October 10, 1970. They had two children Joel Mark and Rachel Lynn. She also affected the lives of several youngsters' she and her husband were privileged to foster. She volunteered at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice South Dakota Veterans Home until her health no longer permitted. Jean was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed sewing, crafts, reading, and cooking. Her windows and yard were filled with flowers: irises, violets, and lilacs. Jean was faithful in serving her Lord and Savior throughout her life. Jean spent the last few years residing at the State's Veterans Home where her husband and the staff assisted with her long struggle with dementia.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Max Hannan of Hot Springs, SD; son, Joel Mark Hannan of Overland Park, KS; Daughter, Rachel Lynn Hannan of Strasburg, PA; Sister, Jerri Church of Aurora, CO; and brother, George Uhl of Hot Springs, SD.
She is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Lavona Uhl.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the State Veterans Home Auditorium in Hot Springs, SD with Pastor Matt Lim and Chaplain Loyd Nielson officiating. Committal services are open for friends and family immediately following at the Fairview Cemetery in Oral, SD.
A memorial has been established in Jean's name to benefit the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home in Hot Springs, SD.
