Jimmie Dalton Holbrook, age 87, of Edgemont, SD, passed away August 18, 2009, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Hot Springs, SD.
Jimmie was born November 21, 1921, in Memphis TX, to Jim and Birdie Mae (Woods) Holbrook.
He proudly served in and retired from the United States Air Force, where he served during World War II and the Korean War until his retirement in 1966. In 1950 he married Minnie Bell Swiney and they moved to Edgemont in 1979. Jimmie was a Mason and member of the VFW and he worked at the Shrine Circus and rode the go-carts in parades for the Masons.
He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia and husband, Russell, Raby of Edgemont, SD; Billy Sue and husband, Jim, Gallespie of Beverly Hills, FL; six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 24, 2009, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. Military Honors will be provided by the Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard.
