Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9,2022, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, SD.
Joanne Weber Burg passed away January 3, 2022. She was born on November 5, 1930, to Rev.
William and Elsa Schultz Weber in Sioux City, Iowa, the second oldest of a family of four children. She grew up in Ponca, NE, graduating from Ponca High School in 1948. The family then moved to Yankton, S.D. as her father took a new position to work in a youth home for disadvantaged youth.
While attending Yankton College, she met George Burg Jr. They were married August 20, 1950. George and Joanne raised six children on the family farm; Teresa (Rob)Grass - Michelle (Steve), Gunnar (Lindsey Ann), Robert (Sandi), Lyndsay (Scott), Heather; Cheryl (Jerry/Sandy) Huddleston- Phillip, Rachel; Kevin (Connie) Burg - Christopher, Garrett (Rachel); Major General Roger (Sharon) Burg - Elizabeth(Kyle), Eleanor, Peter, Emily; Greg (Marianne) Burg – Paul, Adrienne, Henry; C. Alan Burg. Joanne was blessed with many great grandchildren; great great grandchildren along with nieces and nephews. She was also blessed by her surviving sister, Ruth and sister-in-law, Lil.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; son, Alan; son-in-law, Michael; sister, Margaret; brothers, Gordon and Gene; sister-in-law, Karolyn; brother-in-law, Dale; grandson, Paul, and granddaughter, Heather.
Memorials in lieu of flowers/plants may be made to: Bethesda Lutheran Church and School.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
