JoeAnn Case, age 79, of Oral, SD, passed away on October 16, 2016, at the Custer Regional Senior Care Center in Custer, SD.
JoeAnn was born in Harlan County, KY. The family moved to Michigan in the mid to late forties for work and settled in the suburbs of Detroit. She worked as a waitress to support the girls. JoeAnn then remarried in the early 60's and had two wonderful sons, Vincent and Edwin. Shortly after her divorce in the early 80's from her second husband she met and fell in love with Richard Case, Sr. and that began her journey west.
Richard and JoeAnn were married on May 16, 1987, and helped raise Richard's two children, Veronica and Butch. They moved from Michigan in the early nineties to Hermosa, SD. While visiting JoeAnn's oldest daughter, Brenda and her son- in law Mike, whom they were supposed to stay for only two weeks with but ended up staying for 3 weeks because she fell in love with the area, Brenda asked her and Richard to come and live with her. So they went back home, packed all their belongings and relocated to South Dakota at 57 years old. Here she flourished and loved the horses and the land.
