John Carl Anderson, age 48, passed away at his home in Hermosa, SD, on June 23, 2014.
John was born on November 17, 1965, to Carlton and Leana (Krutsch) Anderson in Hot Springs, SD. He attended school in Hot Springs and graduated in 1984. John then attended Western Dakota Vocational Technical College and Graduated with an Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology.
In 1999, John and his childhood sweetheart Debra reunited and got married on, April 17, 2004. They lived in Rapid City until purchasing their dream home and moved to Hermosa in, April 2009. They grew up together and knew each other for 44 blessed years.
John was a member of the Black Hills Prospecting Club, Black Hills Gem and Mineral Society, and a licensed HAM Radio Operator. He was introduced to agate hunting at a very young age by his parents, grandparents, and his brother Mark. He spent time with rock hounds telling stories, cutting, polishing, and making beautiful jewelry with his finds. John also collected pens and was talented guitarist with his band Squee's Toy. His 1964 Ford Mustang and his first dog "Buddy Coal" where his pride and joys. John enjoyed metal detecting and gold prospecting. He was self employed and sole proprietor of Safe and Sound Security.
John was a compassionate, trustworthy, honest man. He strived for excellence in all his endeavors, all while keeping a positive attitude. He had the ability to learn from the experience of others and was always able to see the good and positive in difficult situations. He was without a question an exceptional son, brother, husband, and friend.
Survivors include wife, Debra Anderson of Hermosa, SD; parents, Carl and Leana Anderson of Hot Springs, SD; two sisters, Lori (Brandon) Sherrard of Hot Springs, SD; and Janette (William) Kirkpatrick of Hot Springs, SD.
Proceding John in death is his grandparents, Paul and Bertha Krutsch; Fay and Evlyn Anderson; and his brother, Mark Anderson.
A visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs with Reverend Mark Ford officiating.
A memorial has been established in John's name in care of Debra Anderson, PO BOX 966, Rapid City, SD, 57709.
