John Henry Battles, 84, of Edgemont, SD, passed away April 13, 2023, in Rapid City, SD. John was born in Modesto California to Thomas Walter Battles and Willie Mae Janoe-Battles on January 16th, 1939.  John proudly served in the U.S. Army.

John was a collector of treasures his entire life, he worked the flea markets in Northern California for many years before retiring in Edgemont, SD in 1993. John owned Battles Antiques in Edgemont, and even after closing his store, everyone knew if they were in need of a tool or rare item, John likely had it.

Grateful for sharing in his life are his companion of over 40 years, Debbie Battles of Yankton, SD; his daughters, Brenda (Robert) Sensanbaugher, and Sandy Battles (John Devore) all of Edgemont, SD. Grandchildren, Johnathon Battles of Edgemont, SD; Ashley (Houston) Seaton of Summerville, SC; Jacob Mack and Audrey Tollman of Rapid City, SD; Sierra (Edwin) Morano of Goose Creek, SC; Nevaeh Zimiga of Edgemont, SD and Justin Zimiga of Zimiga of Plankinton, SD.   And the apples of his eye, his great-grandchildren, Magnolia; Harper,Beau; Georgia and Hazel. A brother, Franklin (Mary) Battles of San Jose, CA and Howard Battles of Vernal, UT.

The family would like to thank the Hospice House of Rapid City for their amazing care they provided John in his time of need.

Services will be held at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD, Thursday April 20th, 2023, at 10:00 am for friends and family to celebrate the life of John.
