Obituary

John Leo 'Jack' Marty, age 68, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away suddenly March 10, 2011, at the John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital in Phoenix, AZ.

Jack was born January 15, 1943, in Hot Springs, SD, to John A. and Virginia (Halls) Marty. He was very proud of both sides of our family as pioneers of Fall River County. He took pride in their entrepreneurship and independent nature and independent spirit. Jack worked and paid his way through college. He went to Chadron State College and graduated from Arizona State in three years with honors. He received his CPA designation and worked as a tax accountant. Jack was selected as a national leader on tax codes giving lectures to CPA's and other professionals. He also owned Haskins & Sells and was a teacher at Phoenix College Accounting and Tax Law. He was a member of AICPA and the ASU Alumni Association.

Jack was a very generous and more than a thousand people have benefited from his generosity. Jack would go to Costco and purchase hundreds of dollars of personal hygiene products and food to give to the homeless people down under the bridge in Phoenix. There was not anyone who needed money that left empty handed.

Jack lived for his three grandchildren and doted on them. He was very proud of his family. His joy in life was dancing to rock and roll and country music. Jack is currently arranging to erect a Spencer Hall in heaven.

Jack was loved and will be missed by his family and many friends.

Survivors include his twin children, John E. Marty and Jan E. Marty, three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emma and Zachary all of Phoenix; three brothers, Jerry Marty of Port Charlotte, FL; Tom Marty of Mineola, TX; Bob Marty of Aurora, CO; and his companion of 16 years, Katy Fannon.
