John J. Medina, Jr., age 69, of Custer, SD, passed away on May 26, 2015, at his home in Custer.

John was born on January 9, 1946, to John and Leah (Spencer) Medina, Sr., in Scottsbluff, NE. He served in the United States Army from 1965-1967. John married Caroline Knuth on April 29, 1987.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline Medina of Custer; sons, William Medina of Austin, TX; Patrick (Angela Milliken) Johnson; Brent (Kelly) Schnittger of Blue Earth, MN; daughters, Andyrea (Michael) Mahon of Pflugerville, TX; Keli (Darrel) Savage of Hillsboro, TX; Tina Schnittger of San Antonio, TX; brother, Dwight (Susan) Medina of Fort Worth, TX; sisters, Jane (Jim) Gall of Scottsbluff, NE; Rene Betz of Gering, NE; Carol (Richard) Ferreyra of Los Angeles, CA; Marlena Kidd of Levelland, TX;10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, John, Sr. and Leah; grandson, Zachary Church.

A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2015, at Chamberlain-McColley's Funeral Home in Custer with prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer.

Interment will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors provided by the United States Army and the Sturgis Honor Guards.

In lieu of flowers memorials have been established in John's name to benefit the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer.
